Helena Unierzyska
Helena Unierzyska (born Helena Matejko , * April 1867 , † 1932 ) was a Polish painter and sculptor . She was the younger daughter of Jan Matejko and Teodora Matejko .
Life
She spent her childhood, when she was seriously ill, with her parents in Krzesławice and Krakow .
On June 24, 1891 she married the painter and later Krakow academy lecturer Józef Unierzyski . After their wedding, they moved to Boleń , a village near Kraków. She had no children of her own, but adopted some from the village.
For her help for the war victims during the First World War she received the Independence Cross ( Krzyż Niepodległości ) from the President Stanisław Wojciechowski .
