Helga Braunrath

Helga Braunrath (born August 29, 1944 , born Jakwerth, in Loipersbach in Burgenland ) is a former Austrian BHS professor and politician ( ÖVP ). Braunrath was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1991 to 2005 .

education and profession

Braunrath was born as the daughter of the customs officer Eduard Jakwerth from Langenzersdorf. She attended elementary and secondary school in Langenzersdorf and then the Commercial Academy III in Vienna- Josefstadt . After graduating from school with the Matura in 1962, Braunrath studied at the University of World Trade and in 1966 acquired the academic degree Dkfm. She then worked for a bank for two years and in 1970 became a teacher at the Landesberufsschule Eisenstadt . Braunrath has been a BHS professor at the Eisenstadt Commercial Academy since 1970.

politics

Braunrath worked for the ÖAAB from 1975 and was involved in the city, district and state management. In 1983 she was elected as deputy regional chairman of the ÖAAB, and from 1984 she was a member of the state executive committee of the public service union . From 1991 Braunrath was also a member of the federal party leadership of the ÖAAB.

In 1987 Braunrath moved into the town council of Eisenstadt as a councilor. Between 1989 and 1992 she was chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary group and from 1992 a member of the Eisenstadt city senate. Within the party, she was also the regional party chairman between 1988 and 1992. From 2000 Braunrath was the executive district chairwoman of the ÖVP-Eisenstadt. Braunrath represented the ÖVP between July 18, 1991 and May 16, 2004 in the state parliament.
