Helga Schwarz-Schumann

Helga Schwarz-Schumann (born May 21, 1955 in Siegen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in 1971, she trained as a technical draftswoman at Achenbach Buschhütten GmbH in Kreuztal . In 1974 and 1975 she attended the technical college in Siegen as part of her second education and graduated with the technical college entrance qualification .

From 1975 to 1980 she studied economics at what was then Siegen University (today's University of Siegen ), from which she graduated with a degree in business administration. From 1981 to 1985 a further course of study for teaching at vocational schools followed ( upper secondary level ).

From 1985 to 1989 Schwarz-Schumann was union secretary at the union IG Metall in Lüdenscheid, before she became district secretary of IG Metall in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1990.

Since 2003 she has been on leave to work in the state parliament.

Helga Schwarz-Schumann is married and has two grown children.

Schwarz-Schumann joined the SPD in 1988. In 1998 she became chairwoman of the Siegen-Ost local association, and since 2000 she has been chairwoman of the SPD city association of Siegen.

From 1999 to 2004 she was a member of the City Council of Siegen. She has been a member of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district council since 2004 . From 2000 to 2010 she was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . Her work focuses in particular on women's politics, and she is also a full member of the Interior Committee.

In December 2009, Schwarz-Schumann was involved in an affair over excessive social security grants for politicians.
