Heli Peltonen (born August 4, 1977 in Forssa ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Peltonen, who started for the Vihdin Viesti, made her debut in Lahti in March 1999 in the cross-country skiing world cup and finished in 53rd place over 10 km classic. She ran her first race in the Continental Cup in February 2000 in Vantaa , which she finished in 15th place over 15 km freestyle. At the 2001 Winter Universiade in Zakopane , she won bronze medal with the relay. She also achieved 18th place over 15 km freestyle, 12th place over 5 km freestyle and ninth place over 5 km classic. In the 2002/03 season she came in Gaasbu over 5 km classic and in the subsequent pursuit to third place and won over 5 km freestyle in Keuruu her only victory in the Continental Cup. In the 2004/05 season she reached the Scandinavian Cup with five top ten placements, including second place over 10 km freestyle in Veldre , fourth place in the overall standings. In March 2005 she got her first and only World Cup point with 30th place in the sprint in Lahti. The next day she completed her 16th and last individual World Cup race there, which she finished in 53rd place over 10 km freestyle.
