Helmut Albert (born October 21, 1926 ) is a former player of FC Schweinfurt 05 and TSV Munich 1860 , who played a total of 101 league games from 1954 to 1960 and scored 27 goals in what was then the first-class South Football League .

career

In East Hesse, with the Red-Blacks of Borussia Fulda , the offensive player Helmut Albert first drew attention to himself with his performances beyond the local framework. He moved with the team from Johannisau in the years 1951 to 1953 in the games for the German amateur championship and was therefore also appointed to the Hessen team. But when he failed with the Hessian champion of 1954 in the promotion round to move into the 2nd League South, the attacker accepted the offer from the Oberliga Süd and switched to FC Schweinfurt 05 for the round in 1954/55 Man from Fulda on August 22, 1954 in the away game against Karlsruher SC in the major league. It was a memorable day for Albert and his teammates - including Willi Geyer (goalkeeper), Ludwig Merz , Walter Lang , Gotthardt Geyer , Heinz Rath and Erwin Aumeier : KSC won 8-2 goals and Albert picked up on the right wing negative circumstances the first experiences in the southern German upper house. In the course of the round, Schweinfurt then increased to a very good season performance and after 30 association games took an excellent third place with 37:23 points; two places ahead of the KSC (35:25) and tied with runner-up SSV Reutlingen. In the 3-2 away win at 1. FC Nürnberg on March 27, 1955, Albert had scored two goals as a center forward and had played a total of 19 rounds with six goals. In his second round in Schweinfurt, the striker increased his personal record to 27 league appearances in which he scored eleven goals. Surprisingly, he joined the relegated Munich 1860 in the 2nd League South for the 1956/57 season.

Under coach Max Schäfer , the “Löwen” won the championship with 103: 47 goals and 50:16 points, making them return to the league immediately. At the side of goal scorer Ferdinand Börstler (25 goals) Albert had contributed seven goals in 21 league appearances. Together with players like Hans Auernhammer , Kurt Mondschein , Fritz Sommer , Alfons Stemmer and Ludwig Zausinger , the sixties were clearly superior to the competition from Ulm, Pforzheim, Cham, Neu-Isenburg, Waldhof, Singen and Kassel, only runners-up and fellow league returners Reutlingen were on a par Been opponents. In the round of 1957/58 in 1860, under the new coach Hans Hipp, he finished sixth and Albert had scored six goals in 27 missions. In the 1958/59 round, the "blues" repeated this placement and Albert had again counted among the regular cast with 23 league appearances and four goals. In his fourth year with Munich in 1860, 1959/60, he only came to five other league appearances. The competition from Alfred Heiß and Hans Auernhammer had been too strong on the wings, just like in the middle of the storm by Rudolf Kölbl .

After a total of 101 league appearances with 27 goals, the higher-class career of Helmut Albert ended in the summer of 1960.
