Helmut Barbe
Helmut Barbe (born December 28, 1927 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German church musician and composer.
Life
Barbe studied at the Berlin church music school. His teachers were Gottfried Grote and Ernst Pepping . From 1952 to 1975 he was cantor at the St. Nikolai Church (Spandau) , then until his retirement as a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts .
In 1956 his musical Halleluja, Billy was performed on a text by Ernst Lange at the German Evangelical Church Congress in Frankfurt am Main .
