The diocese of Javols ( Gabalensis dioecesis ) with the bishopric in Javols , in what is now the French department of Lozère , was founded in the 3rd century .

history

Javols was badly affected by the great migration in the 5th century , from which the place never recovered. The bishopric was therefore moved to Mende in the middle of the 10th century and the diocese was renamed the Mende diocese .
