Helmut Jendreiek

Helmut Jendreiek (born October 31, 1928 in Guben ; † 2006 ) was a German author and literary scholar.

Jendreiek passed his Abitur in 1948 in Leer and studied German philology, philosophy and Protestant church history at the University of Bonn from 1949 to 1953 . In 1955 he passed his Rigorosum and later worked as a high school teacher.

Helmut Jendreieck's work on Bertolt Brecht as a playwright (“Bertolt Brecht: Drama of Change”) is still part of the standard literature on epic theater today.

In his last years of service as senior director of studies at the Bunsen-Gymnasium Heidelberg he began to work on his own novel for 1945 ("1945: or in that one year"), which he completed on August 1, 1991 after his retirement.
