Helmut Kopf

Helmut Kopf (born January 25, 1939 ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Kopf was actively involved in racing rowing and joined the Speyer rowing company in 1883 in 1956. He got into basketball through his sons in the 1970s. At the beginning of the 1980s he was youth manager at TSV Speyer. From 1986 to 1998 he was also youth manager of the basketball association Rhineland-Palatinate and from 1998 to 2004 competitive sports officer in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition, Kopf worked for around 35 years as game manager and youth warden for the Palatinate basketball association. He has been chairman of the Speyer basketball boarding school since 1998 .

Kopf, whose wife Jutta also worked as a basketball official, was described as a "key figure in Speyer sports" and a "basketball mastermind". In 2004 he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the Basketball Association of Rhineland-Palatinate, in 2006 the Golden Badge of Honor of the Basketball Association Palatinate, in 2008 the sports badge of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and in 2019 the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Federation . The trained farmer worked for BASF .
