Helmut Müller (soccer player, 1925)

Helmut Müller (born April 16, 1925 in Worms ; † December 21, 2006 there ) was a German football player .

As a prisoner of war, Müller was brought from America to England in 1946. As a member of a prison team, he scored in a game against Bristol City . After his return to Germany, Müller joined Wormatia Worms in 1947 . In the final round of the German championship in 1949 he scored the 1-0 lead for Worms in the quarter-finals against Kickers Offenbach . After the game ended in a 2-2 draw, a replay was scheduled, in which Müller and Worms lost. In the DFB Cup 1952/53 he scored in the quarterfinals against Kickers Offenbach in the 85th minute the equalizer to 1: 1 by the Wormatia could turn the game to a 2: 1 victory and reached the semi-finals. There Worms lost 3-1 despite another goal by Müller against Alemannia Aachen . In the final round of the German championship in 1955 , Müller retired despite his goal in the 1: 3 defeat against the later German champions Rot-Weiss Essen in the preliminary round, which was immediately followed by the final, with Wormatia Worms as bottom of the group 2.

As a trainer, Müller officiated at FSV Oppenheim and from 1961 to 1964 with the amateur team of Wormatia Worms.
