Helmut Maxeiner

Helmut Maxeiner (born April 9, 1952 in Berlin ; †  November 22, 2009 near Stahnsdorf ) was a German forensic doctor .

Life

After studying medicine, Helmut Maxeiner received his doctorate in 1980 at the Free University of Berlin with a forensic doctor thesis on artery injuries to the brain base . In his habilitation thesis on forensic medicine larynx findings, he developed today's standard method for examining a larynx.

As an employee of the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the Free University and - after the merger of the Berlin institutes - as a professor in the Medical Faculty of the Charité , he made a name for himself as a specialist in traumatic brain injuries. He made decisive contributions to the knowledge of shaking trauma in infants.

As chairman of the doctoral committee of the Charité, Maxeiner was particularly committed to promoting young academics.
