Helmut Novy (born July 31, 1944 in Dreihunken / Pihanken, today: Dubí , Czech Republic ) is a former ice hockey player from the GDR and a member of the Hall of Fame of the German Ice Hockey Museum . He is the brother of Erich Novy .

Career

He played for SG Dynamo Weißwasser from 1961 and was a GDR champion with the team several times . After the 1973/74 season he ended his playing career.

Internationally, he played for the national ice hockey team of the GDR at the ice hockey world championship 1963 to 1971 and was there in the team that won bronze at the European championship in 1966 . He was also in the squad at the qualifying games in 1960 against the German national ice hockey team for the 1960 Winter Olympics and at the 1968 Winter Olympics .
