Erich Novy (born February 5, 1937 in Pyhanken ; † July 14, 2016 in Weißwasser ) was an ice hockey player from the GDR and a member of the Hall of Fame of the German Ice Hockey Museum . His brother Helmut was also a hockey player.

Career

He played for SG Dynamo Weißwasser from 1955 and became a GDR champion with the team several times . After the 1966/67 season he ended his playing career.

In the 1970s he sporadically helped out in friendly games from Einheit Niesky .

Internationally he played for the national ice hockey team of the GDR at the world championships from 1957 to 1966 . In 1966 he won the bronze medal at the European championship that was held at the same time.

After the end of his playing career, he worked as a coach in Weißwasser. Erich Novy died in July 2016.
