Helmut Rossmann (* 1954 in Gotha ) was a German child actor who as a leading actor in a DEFA - children's film has been known.

Life

Rossmann was born in Gotha, but moved to Werder near Potsdam as a child .

He attended second secondary school in Werder when director Konrad Petzold cast him in 1965 as the main actor in his children's film Alfons Zitterbacke . Rossmann played the main character Alfons Zitterbacke in the film adaptation of several episodes about Alfons Zitterbacke, written by Gerhard Holtz-Baumert . He suffers from his surname and, as a typical unlucky person, tries to master life, full of ideas, adventurous and a little over-the-top. He wants to achieve a lot, but in doing so also encounters resistance and incomprehension of his environment. "Petzold knew how to accurately select Alfons from thousands of applicants," was the criticism of the cast. The film was shot from May to September 1965 in Jena and Babelsberg. The film had its world premiere on February 25, 1966 and, with around two million viewers, became Konrad Petzold's most popular film. In the German Democratic Republic, children were not allowed to be re-cast for a leading role after a leading role. Rossmann subsequently appeared in supporting roles in other films. In the 2019 remake of the 1966 film Alfons Zitterbacke , he played a supporting role as the sausage seller "Alfons".

Rossmann passed his Abitur as an exceptionally gifted student in a special class at the Humboldt University in Berlin and studied physics at the Humboldt University from 1972 . He then completed his doctorate and worked at the Institute for Semiconductor Spectroscopy. After the fall of the Wall , he quit his position and has since worked for a company in Berlin-Adlershof that specializes in laser technology.
