Horst E. Brandt
Horst E. Brandt (born January 17, 1923 in Berlin ; † August 22, 2009 ) was a German film and television director who became known in the GDR for films on political topics.
Life
Brandt completed his training as a precision mechanic and from 1947 worked as a camera assistant in the DEFA studio for feature films. In 1954 he worked as a cameraman on the feature film Ernst Thälmann - Leader of His Class and in 1961 on the television series Conscience in Riot . In 1966 he made his debut as a director with Irrlicht und Feuer . Brandt, who had been a member of the SED since 1947 , received the GDR National Prize in 1966, 1969 and 1971 .
