Helmut Schareika

Helmut Schareika (born September 13, 1946 - † November 15, 2018 ) was a classical philologist and Germanist as well as a specialist didactic specialist in ancient languages ​​and a translator .

After studying Classical Philology , German Philology and Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology, Schareika received her doctorate in 1975 at the University of Bochum with a dissertation on aristophanic comedy . After that, Schareika worked for well-known textbook publishers as a publishing editor (subjects: German / grammar school, philosophy, Greek [Kantharos textbook], Latin [including Ostia and Itinera textbooks]), as a freelance editor and as a non-fiction author in the area of ​​Roman antiquity and as a translator of historical non-fiction books and active of novels; He accompanied this activity by giving lectures on the subject of his own books and the didactics of ancient languages.

Schareika lived with his wife Angela Schareika in Gau-Algesheim until the end and ran the textus publishing service there .
