Isidora Rosenthal-Kamarinea

Isidora Rosenthal-Kamarinea (born April 12, 1918 in Piraeus / Greece ; † March 4, 2003 in Bochum ) was a Greek-German Neo-Graecist and professor of Byzantine and modern Greek philology at the University of Bochum .

Life

Kamarinea received her doctorate in 1945 with a dissertation on the religious poetry of modern Greece at the University of Marburg . Since 1966 she was professor for Byzantine and modern Greek philology at the University of Bochum, after her release from 1984 honorary professor for modern Greek literature at the University of Marburg .

Panajotis P. Kamarineas is her brother.

Work areas

Rosenthal-Kamarinea has worked, also as a translator, to convey contemporary Greek narrative literature in particular, but also poetry. Numerous scientific works are in the neo-Graecist journals Hellenika 1966ff. and Folia Neohellenica 1975ff. published. She has also published her own writing.
