Helmut Witt

Helmut Walter Witt (born March 2, 1927 in Berlin ; † August 4, 2016 there ) was a German radiologist , university professor and from 1965 to 1992 chief physician of the Central Institute for X-ray Diagnostics at the Rudolf Virchow Hospital .

Life

After Helmut Witt graduated from high school in 1944, he studied medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1946 to 1952 . In 1962 he became the first senior physician at the Central Institute for Radiological Diagnostics at the Rudolf Virchow Hospital and later became the doctor in charge. In 1970 he completed his habilitation in radiology with a teaching qualification at the Free University of Berlin . In 1974 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Central Institute for Radiological Diagnostics at the Rudolf Virchow Hospital.

Witt was first chairman from 1989 to 2004 and from 2004 honorary chairman of the Society of Friends of the German Heart Center Berlin eV as well as "long-standing president of the German Society for General Medicine and Family Medicine ". In 1992 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
