Helmut Zöllner

Helmut Zöllner (born May 14, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Zöllner played for Eintracht Trier and was part of the team in the 1970s that won the Rhineland League twice . In 1976, the defender was one of the top performers in the playoff against tied competitor TuS Neuendorf who contributed to the championship win with a 2-1 win. Then the team prevailed against Borussia Neunkirchen and Wormatia Worms in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga . Zöllner finally completed a total of 33 games in the 2nd Bundesliga South in the 1976/77 season .

His son Patrick Zöllner later also played for Eintracht Trier when the club competed in the third-class regional league in the 1990s .
