Helmut Zuzak

Helmut Zuzak (born March 14, 1913 in Marienburg / West Prussia; † August 31, 2007 in Trier ) was a German doctor .

He practiced as a resident specialist in gynecology and obstetrics from 1954 to 1993 in Trier on the Moselle. He was still the medical director of his own cytological institute, which he set up in the early 1960s as one of the first in Rhineland-Palatinate. In this context he was accepted as a member of the International Academy for Cytology (MIAC) based in Quebec / Canada.

Career

He completed his medical studies mainly at the Philipps University of Marburg and received his doctorate there in 1943 on the subject of "The physiological ability of the complement titer to be influenced by vitamin K" . After assisting in the Marburg women's clinic, he became a senior physician at the Herz-Jesu Hospital in Trier in 1950 and settled as a gynecologist in 1954, first in Saarstrasse, later in Südallee and finally at Friedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse 22. The cytological institute was also located here.

Commitments and awards

In 1978 he received the Ernst von Bergmann plaque from the German Medical Association for services to further medical training , which is awarded as thanks and recognition to well-deserved personalities at home and abroad. His commitment and countless lectures on the importance of cytology in cancer prevention in connection with advanced medical training events of the Trier District Medical Association distinguished his work beyond the borders of Trier. In 1987 he was appointed district doctor of the German Red Cross.

Helmut Zuzak was involved in the professional association of gynecologists for over 40 years and was a member of the chief physician association. His 50th anniversary was honored with the renewal of his doctorate by the Philipps University of Marburg in 1994. Helmut Zuzak ceased active practice in January 1993. Until shortly before his death in 2007, he continued his personal training and was still available with his medical advice.
