Helmuth Stocker

Helmuth Stocker (born October 10, 1938 in Salzburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and social security employee. Stocker was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1983 to 1994 . He is the father of Gerald C. Stocker .

education and profession

After attending primary school, Stocker attended the lower level of a secondary school and then worked as a freight forwarder. He joined the Salzburg Regional Health Insurance Fund in 1960 and was promoted to head of department in 1980. He also completed the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna in Mödling .

politics

Stocker started his political career in 1956 as a youth functionary in the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and from 1960 to 1968 he held the position of regional chairman of the Salzburg youth trade union . At the same time he was a member of the federal executive committee of the Austrian youth trade union during this time. In addition, Stocker was a member of the ÖGB state executive in Salzburg and from 1964 to 1974 chamber councilor of the chamber for workers and employees for Salzburg, where he chaired the youth and apprentice committee.

After his union activity, Stocker was a local councilor in Salzburg from 1967 to 1983 and a member of the city senate from 1980 to 1983. He held various functions within the party and was district party chairman of the SPÖ Salzburg-Stadt from 1990, member of the SPÖ state party executive from 1978, from 1981 member of the Federal Control Commission of the SPÖ and from 1990 regional party chairman deputy. Stocker represented the SPÖ in the National Council from May 19, 1983 to November 6, 1994.
