The parish of St. Servatius in Hembergen is verifiably one of the oldest parishes in the diocese with over 800 years. The rare patronage of Bishop Servatius also indicates this old age. Today's church building St. Servatius was rebuilt between 1860 and 1862 according to plans by the architect Emil von Manger from Oelde . The church tower houses the oldest bells in Emsdetten from 1504 and 1696.

The Catholic parish of St. Servatius in Hembergen has meanwhile been connected to the parish of St. Pankratius in Emsdetten.
