from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hendrick Heuck (* around 1600 in Roermond ; † 1677 in Nijmegen ) was alongside Pieter Gabriels Croon from Zegwaard ( Zoetermeer ) in 1657 the inventor of the Giereilfähre ( Gierponte, Gierbrug ).

In Nijmegen, Heuck wanted to facilitate traffic across the wide Waal river and has further developed and applied the concept. It was named Zeldenrust and was only replaced by two Waal bridges in 1936.
