Hendrik Beikirch (born March 6, 1974 in Kassel ) is a German graffiti and street artist.

life and work

Hendrik Beikirch, who is also known by his stage name ecb , creates black-and-white portraits that he paints on facades, canvases and paper. He has been a household name in the graffiti and street art scene since the mid-1990s. In 1989 he created his first picture with a spray can. From 1996 to 2000 the artist studied art education at the University of Koblenz-Landau .

Contribution to the Cultura Nova Festival (Heerlen 2014)

His works are often captivating due to their huge dimensions, an extraordinary visual language and the socially critical statements that he makes with his pictures. In August 2012 he created the 70 meter high portrait of a fisherman in Busan, South Korea . Many fishermen have been evicted from the port in Busan as new high-rise buildings have been built. This gigantic work of art is the tallest mural in Asia. Beikirch finds it exciting to work with dimensions and is of the opinion that there is still air upwards and would also like to enlarge his works of art to a height of 100 meters or more.

The street artist likes to alienate his works by running individual drops of color and by distorting them by stretching and compressing. They belong to the genre of realism . He has been invited to festivals around the world for years, for example CityLeaks 2013 in Cologne and Cultura Nova 2014 in Heerlen.

In Mannheim-Vogelstang , Beikirch has enlarged a black and white portrait of a woman, which is part of his Siberia series, to a high-rise building with 15 floors.

He lives and works as a freelance artist in Koblenz.
