Henech Kon

Henech Kon also Henryk Kon (* 1890 in Łódź ; † April 20, 1972 in New York ) was a composer of the Yiddish theater and journalist.

Life

Born in 1880 as the son of Yosef Kons , he should first complete a classical Jewish education with his grandfather in Kutno . When it became increasingly clear that he would not become a rabbi , he went to Berlin to attend a music school there.

In 1912 Kon went back to Poland. In 1940 he emigrated to the United States of America. Kon composed the music for the film Der Dybbuk in 1937 . He said: "In my whole life I have not devoted myself to any work with such dedication."
