Hinderk "Henk" Bleker (born July 26, 1953 in Onstwedde , Province of Groningen ) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appèl (CDA).

Life

After attending the Ubbo Emmius Lyceum in Stadskanaal, he began studying political science at the Free University of Amsterdam in 1971 and graduated in 1977. During his studies he became an employee in the Ministry of the Interior in 1975 and then from 1976 to 1984 a research assistant at the University of Groningen . There he joined in June 1984. He then worked as an independent organizational consultant between 1984 and 1999.

In addition, he began his political career when he was elected member of the Parliament of the Province of Groningen (Provinciale Staten van Groningen) in June 1982 as a representative of the CDA and was a member of it until April 2003. During this time he was first chairman of the CDA parliamentary group in the Provinciale Staten van Groningen from 1991 to April 1999 , then Deputy of the Province of Groningen for Welfare, Welfare and Sport and, between April 2003 and March 2007, Deputy of the Province of Groningen for Traffic, Transport, Water and energy.

In between, he was also secretary and member of the executive board of the CDA from November 2001 to October 2010. After being briefly a member of the provincial parliament again in March, he was again deputy of the province of Groningen from March 2007 to May 2009, now for agriculture, nature, the environment and administrative organization.

Bleker, who was director of the radio station RTV Noord from May to October 2010 , was acting chairman of the CDA between June and October 2010 as the successor to Peter van Heeswijk .

On October 14, 2010, he was appointed by Prime Minister Mark Rutte to his cabinet and was Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, Agriculture and Innovation responsible for agriculture, nature, food quality, trade policy, tourism and the post office until November 5, 2012.
