Cabinet Rutte I
The Cabinet Rutte I formed the government of the Netherlands from October 14, 2010 to November 5, 2012 . After his resignation on April 23, 2012, the cabinet was in office until the parliamentary elections on September 12, 2012 .
The cabinet was a minority government from the right-wing liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), which was tolerated by the Freedom Party (PVV). Together with the PVV, the coalition held 76 out of 150 seats in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament. On October 8, 2010, Queen Beatrix transferred the formation of a government to Mark Rutte , the VVD's top candidate, after the three parties and parliamentary groups involved agreed to the coalition and tolerance agreements. On April 23, 2012, Prime Minister Mark Rutte submitted the resignation of his government to Queen Beatrix over a dispute over budget cuts in the wake of the euro crisis . These budget negotiations were not supported by the PVV, which meant that the minority government did not get a majority for the negotiations. The savings plans were finally approved on April 26, 2012 by the governing parties as well as the opposition parties D66 , GroenLinks and the ChristenUnie , which together have a majority in the Second Chamber.
Compared to the previous government Balkenende IV , the government has been reduced from 27 to 20 ministers and state secretaries :
- The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality was merged with the Ministry of Economic Affairs to form the Ministry of Economy , Agriculture and Innovation .
- The Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Transport and Water Management were merged to form the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment .
- The Ministry of Justice was expanded to include security departments from the Ministry of the Interior .
- The functions of ministers without portfolio for development cooperation and for youth and family have been dissolved.
- The office of the Minister without Portfolio for Housing, Exclusion and Integration was responsible for the areas of immigration and asylum .
