Cabinet beam end IV
The Fourth Cabinet, Balkenende , formed the government of the Netherlands from February 22, 2007 to October 14, 2010 . It consisted of a coalition of CDA , PvdA and ChristenUnie under Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende (CDA). These parties had a majority after the 2006 general election . In February 2010 the cabinet broke up in a dispute over an extension of the Dutch military mission in the Afghan province of Uruzgan ( Task Force Uruzgan ) within the framework of ISAF . After long discussions on February 19 and the following night, Jan Peter Balkenende announced that the members of the PvdA government had announced their resignation, but that the other ministers of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) and Christian Union (CU) would remain in the cabinet.

The cabinet consisted of a total of 16 ministers and 11 state secretaries. According to the distribution of seats in parliament, the CDA provided 8 ministers and 4 state secretaries, the PvdA 6 ministers and 6 state secretaries and the ChristenUnie 2 ministers and one state secretary.
