Uri Rosenthal

Uriël (Uri) Rosenthal (born July 19, 1945 in Montreux , Switzerland ) is a Dutch political scientist and politician (member of the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie , VVD). From October 2010 to November 2012 he was Foreign Minister of the Netherlands.

Before he took up his ministerial office, he was a member of the First Chamber of the States General from 1999 , where he was also parliamentary group chairman for the VVD from 2005 . In addition to his political functions, he is Professor of Administrative Science at the University of Leiden and Chairman of the COT Instituut voor Veiligheids-en Crisismanagement, a consulting firm that deals with issues relating to crisis management and security. After the Dutch parliamentary elections in 2010 , he was also one of five informators .

Uri Rosenthal is married and lives in Rotterdam . He is of Jewish origin, but not practicing.
