Half-timbered church Michendorf in 2010

The Protestant village church Michendorf is a half-timbered church from 1743. It is located in the historic village center of Michendorf, the eponymous district of the municipality of Michendorf in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg (Germany). The single-nave hall church with the retracted tower is listed as a monument .

Michendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1375 in Charles IV's land register as Michendorp . The place was named either after a man with the Slavic personal name Micha (short form of names like Miroslav) or with the German personal name Micha (short form of Michael). The land book records the place with a high-turnover jug . In the Thirty Years War Michendorf and with it its church was completely destroyed. The place remained uninhabited for around 50 years, until in 1697 a new settlement began with five farmers.

The remains of the destroyed church - probably a stone church from the time of the German East Settlement  - were demolished in 1703. In 1743 the single-nave half-timbered church was built on the same site. The retracted bell tower has a sound opening on each side and is covered by a very flat tent roof protruding on all sides . In 1962 the interior was redesigned and in 1992 extensive repairs were carried out. In the 1950s, a parish and parish house was built right next to the church , which was renovated and expanded in 2006/2007.

The Protestant parish of Michendorf regularly uses the half-timbered building for its church services . In addition, the congregation offers events such as concerts and readings in the church. The community is part of the church district agent Mark Brandenburg in the Sprengel Potsdam (until 31 December 2009 Sprengel Neuruppin ) of the Lutheran Church Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz (EKBO).
