Julius van Zuylen van Nijevelt
Count Julius Philip Jacob Adriaan van Zuylen van Nijevelt , also Jules van Zuylen van Nijevelt (born August 19, 1819 in Dommeldange , Luxembourg , † July 1, 1894 in The Hague ) was a Dutch anti-revolutionary, later conservative statesman. 1866-1868 he was chairman of the Council of Ministers. His cousin Jacob van Zuylen van Nijevelt had already exercised this position in 1861.
Van Zuylen van Nijevelt studied at the Utrecht University Law , where he received his doctorate in 1841, and then embarked on a diplomatic career. 1860–1861 he was Foreign Minister. After a time as the Dutch envoy in Berlin (1863-1865) he became King Willems III from 1866-1868 at the personal request . again Foreign Minister and was also chairman of the Council of Ministers. During this term of office, the Luxembourg crisis fell , in which van Zuylen played an important diplomatic role. While the crisis brought him into trouble in parliament, Otto von Bismarck is said to have said to him in this context: Vous avez sauvé la paix de l'Europe .
