Dirk Jan de Geer (born December 14, 1870 in Groningen ; † November 27, 1960 in Soest ) was a Dutch politician at the Christelijk-Historische Unie (CHU) and Prime Minister from 1926 to 1929 and from 1939 to 1940 (more precisely: Chairman of the Council of Ministers ) the Netherlands.

De Geer had a doctorate in law. Between 1921 and 1940 he also held various ministerial posts, mostly that of finance minister . In 1933 he became mayor of Arnhem and received the honorary title of Minister of State . In 1940, as acting Prime Minister, he was able to flee to England after the defeat of the Dutch army by the Wehrmacht , but had to end his political career because Queen Wilhelmina  - because of his " defeatist " attitude (he said the Allies could not win the war) - withdrew confidence. He returned to the Netherlands during the war. After the war he was charged with collaboration with the Third Reich and lost all honorary degrees.
