from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leonardus Antonius Lightenvelt (born October 27, 1795 in 's-Hertogenbosch , † October 29, 1873 in Hyères , France) was a judge and statesman from Brabant . He was friends with Wilhelm II (Netherlands) , who named him for the Raad van State . As government commissioner in Limburg in 1848, he ensured that the province did not separate. In 1867 he was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State .

After two terms as minister (for foreign affairs and affairs of the Catholic Church), he completed his professional career as envoy in France, where he also died.

Little is known about him privately; as a Catholic he was married to a Protestant, which was at least worth mentioning for the time.
