Henning's father

Hans Henning Vater (* in Kiel ) is a German violinist and orchestra leader.

He studied violin at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold , then baroque violin with Monica Huggett . In 1995 he founded the Göttingen Baroque Orchestra , which he heads as concertmaster ( violin , violino piccolo and viola d'amore ) and with which he gives numerous concerts throughout northern Germany on baroque and classical instruments. The orchestra accompanies choirs in performances of oratorical works, but pure orchestral pieces are also on the program. Henning Vater also plays regularly in the Festival Orchestra of the Göttingen International Handel Festival under Nicholas McGegan (until 2011) and Laurence Cummings and is a frequent guest musician at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen. In 2013 and 2015 he played in the Stadttheater Fürth as violinist and keyboard player in the band of the musical Next to Normal (almost normal).
