Dichloropropenes
Dichloropropenes are isomeric chemical compounds from the group of chlorinated hydrocarbons and alkenes . They are doubly chlorinated derivatives of propene (i.e. they have a double bond and a chain of three carbon atoms). They are each available as a colorless to yellowish liquid with a sweet, pungent odor.

This group of substances includes 1,1-dichloropropene , 1,2-dichloropropene , 1,3-dichloropropene (in cis and trans form), 2,3-dichloropropene and 3,3-dichloropropene . 1,3-dichloropropene has been used on a large scale mainly as a pesticide and disinfectant. Since it is classified as carcinogenic, its use in Germany has been banned since 2003. 2,3-Dichloropropene is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other chemical compounds. The other isomers are hardly used.
