Henny Seidemann

Henny Seidemann (born November 6, 1922 in Berlin ; † August 31, 2012 in Munich ) was a German contemporary witness of the Holocaust .

Career

Seidemann fled to Barcelona with her family in 1935. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War , she was sent back to Germany in 1936 and spent the following two years in the Antonienheim in Munich. In 1938 she fled to Spain again. She only returned to Munich in 1957.

From 1984 to 1993 she was chairwoman of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Munich-Augsburg-Regensburg and was later named honorary chairman.

For her services to the reconciliation between Jews and Christians she was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Bavarian Order of Merit.
