Henriëtte Ronner-Knip (born May 31, 1821 in Amsterdam , † February 28, 1909 in Ixelles ) was a Dutch - Belgian painter , watercolor painter and draftsman .

life and work

As a student of her father, the painter Josephus-Augustus Knip (1777–1847), she began to depict animals, especially dogs and cats , at an early age . In her later work, she mainly focused on depicting cats of all kinds in luxurious surroundings.

Henriëtte Knip married Feico Ronner on March 14, 1850 in Amsterdam, with whom she had six children. Three of their children Alfred Ronner , Alice Ronner and Emma Ronner also became painters. After the wedding in 1850, the family lived in Brussels.

Henriëtte Ronner-Knip was a member of the Association of Belgian Women Artists Cercle des femmes peintres , which organized group exhibitions with works by the artists from 1888 to 1893.
