Henri Bouillard

Henri Bouillard (born March 13, 1908 in Charlieu , † June 22, 1981 in Paris ) was a French Jesuit and university teacher.

From 1941 to 1950 Henri Bouillard taught at the Faculty of Theology in Lyon-Fourvière . In 1950 his chair there was withdrawn from him because he was, like Henri de Lubac, a follower of Nouvelle Theology . He completed his habilitation with a thesis on Karl Barth and became professor of fundamental theology at the Institut catholique de Paris . Together with the Jesuit and later Cardinal Jean Daniélou , he founded the Institut de Science et de Théologie des Religions (ISTR) in 1967.

Thomas von Aquin , Karl Barth, Maurice Blondel and Eric Weil shaped Henri Bouillard's theological thinking.

Max Seckler made a German translation of Bouillard's book Blondel et le christianisme (1961).
