Henri Fierz
Henri Fierz (born November 11, 1897 in Herrliberg ; † August 31, 1972 in Buochs ) was a Swiss aircraft designer and entrepreneur .
Life
He studied at the Technikum Winterthur and then worked for five years in the USA as an engineer at Douglas , Curtiss and Packard . Henry Fierz designed between 1925 and 1933 for the Alfred Comte company in Switzerland a. a. the "Comte AC-4 Gentleman". From 1934 to 1940 he was technical director at Swissair ; from 1939 technical director of the Swiss company Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG and developed several successful school and training aircraft here. He is considered the father of the Pilatus PC-6 , of which Pilatus in Stans and Fairchild-Hiller in the USA have built more than 1000 and which has excellent STOL properties.
