Sody studied Indian Landbouwkunde (Indian crop science ) in Wageningen between 1913 and 1917 and conducted research in the Dutch East Indies from 1918 to 1926 and again from 1927 to 1934 , especially in the field of mammals and ornithology . His private zoological collection was on permanent loan to the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie in Leiden during his lifetime ; his widow donated the collection to the museum.
