Kurt Kürten

Kurt Kürten (* 1920 ; † April 30, 1993 ) was a German local poet , draftsman and home keeper .

In 1981 he founded the Langerfeld bleacher group in Langerfeld , a district of Wuppertal to which he was very closely connected . With demonstrations at various events, this group shows the craft of the yarn bleacher as it was still practiced in the Wupper valley centuries ago . As a dialect poet , he wrote numerous humorous poems in the local dialect and was involved in this area as a co-initiator and co-organizer in the Schnatgang and the Plattkallerkreis. For many years he also designed the Langerfeld calendar and painted numerous motifs from the old Langerfeld. He built an extensive Langerfeld archive from private funds and collected material for a Langerfeld museum that he was planning.

In addition to Günther Voigt , he was significantly involved in the design of the Langerfeld memorial plaques .

Honors

In 1986 he was named “Wuppertal of the Year” by the Westdeutsche Zeitung . He received the " Golden Coil " from the citizens' association for his diverse commitment to the district . In his honor, the Fontaine and Platz at the residential building at Wilhelm-Hedtmann-Straße 3 were named after Kürten-Fontaine and "Kurt-Kürten-Platz".
