Henri Jacques Bource
Henri Jacques Bource (born December 2, 1826 in Antwerp , † October 25, 1899 there ) was a Belgian portrait, genre and history painter.
Bource studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Edward Dujardin, Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans and Gustave Wappers . He continued his studies in Paris in 1856 and 1857 in Ary Scheffer's studio .
First he painted portraits and genre scenes with historical subjects. From the 1870s he specialized in scenes from the life of the fishermen in Scheveningen and their families.
He went on study trips to Switzerland, Norway, Scotland, Italy and Germany.
He took part in various exhibitions. He received medals in The Hague (1857), Brussels (1863) and Amsterdam (1868).
