Henri Jibrayel

Henri Jibrayel (born September 18, 1951 in Marseille ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2007 .

Jibrayel grew up as a descendant of Lebanese immigrants in Marseille. At the age of 14 he had to leave school and lived from casual work before he was employed by the then post and telecommunications company PTT. He got involved with the workers' union and became its national secretary after just a few months. In 1978 he joined the Parti socialiste , was chairman of the party in the 16th arrondissement of Marseille and a delegate in various regional and national party bodies. In 2001 he moved to the General Council of the Bouches-du-Rhône department . In the 2007 elections , he stood for the socialists in the fourth constituency of the Bouches-du-Rhône department and entered parliament. In 2012 he was re-elected, running in the seventh instead of the fourth constituency.
