The 16th arrondissement is an arrondissement (municipality) in the city of Marseille in the south of France . In 2008 17,457 people lived here. This makes it the least populous and at the same time the most sparsely populated arrondissement of the city.
The arrondissement is located in the northwest of the urban area. In the north it borders on Les Pennes-Mirabeau , in the east and south on the 15th arrondissement . The Mediterranean Sea forms the natural border in the west. In the northwest, the arrondissement borders on the municipality of Le Rove .
