The 8th arrondissement is an arrondissement (municipality) of the city of Marseille in the south of France . In 2008 78,916 people lived here.
The arrondissement is located in the southwest of the urban area. In the north it borders on the 6th and 7th arrondissement , in the northeast on the 10th and in the east on the 9th arrondissement . The Mediterranean forms the natural border in the south and west.
