The 5th arrondissement is an arrondissement (municipality) in the city of Marseille in the south of France . In 2007, 44,583 people lived here.
It is located east of Marseille city center. The boundaries of the arrondissement run roughly at Place Jean-Jaurès and Cimetière Saint-Pierre . The Rocade du Jaret transport axis runs through it in a north-south direction . In the north it borders on the 4th arrondissement , in the east on the 10th and 12th and in the west on the 1st and 6th arrondissement .
