Henri Julien Dumont also Henri Dumont (born January 21, 1859 in Beauvais , † 1921 ) was a French painter and printmaker.

Life

Henri Julien Dumont was born in Beauvaise on the Oise in 1859 . Little is known about the life of the artist, who mainly worked in Paris. At first he worked on portraits, nude studies and genre paintings in an academic style and since 1880 exhibited regularly at the Salon de Paris . Possibly through his wife, the actress Ellen Andrée , he later turned to the impressionist painting style and created landscapes and cityscapes. From 1884 he took part in exhibitions at the Salon des Indépendants . From the 1890s onwards, he increasingly turned to painting still lifes with flowers. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 he received a bronze medal as an award. In addition to paintings, his work includes drawings, pastels, etchings and poster designs.
