Henri Michelin (* 1809 / 10 ; † 27. June 1898 in Paris ) was pomologist , secretary of the Committee for Arboriculture of the Société nationale d'horticulture de France (fr) and Knight of the Legion of Honor .

Henri Michelin had a high reputation in the arboriculture sector, which he had acquired through his knowledge of the types of fruit as well as through his participation in pomological congresses and meetings, which he recorded precisely and meticulously.

The tart sweet cider apple Michelin (en) was named after him. It was grown by the tree nursery Legrand from Yvetot ( Normandy ) and bore fruit for the first time in 1872.
