Henri Morier

Henri Morier (born May 23, 1910 in Geneva , † December 20, 2004 in Ambilly ) was a Swiss Romance philologist .

life and work

Morier studied in Geneva and received his doctorate in 1943 with the first volume of Le rythme du vers libre symboliste étudié chez Verhaeren, Henri de Régnier, Vielé-Griffin et ses relations avec le sens (3 vols., Geneva 1943/44, 2nd edition 1977) . In 1952 he became a professor at the University of Geneva and founded a center for poetics. His books received prizes from the Académie française . Morier was a member of the Conseil international de la langue française and belonged to the Comité de patronage of the magazine Le Français Moderne .
