Henri Moscovici (born May 5, 1944 in Tecuci , Romania ) is a Romanian-American mathematician.

Moscovici obtained his diploma in 1966 and received his doctorate in 1971 from the University of Bucharest with Gheorghe Vrânceanu . From 1966 to 1971 he was an assistant at the Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest, from 1971 to 1975 at the Mathematical Institute and from 1975 to 1977 at the Institute for Atomic Physics and from 1977 at INCREST in Bucharest. From 1978 to 1980 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study . He holds the Alice Wood Chair in Mathematics at Ohio State University , which he has been with since 1980.

Moscovici did research on representation theory, global analysis and non-commutative geometry (NCG), where he worked with Alain Connes , among others, from the early 1980s . With Connes, he proved a local index set in the NCG.

In 1990 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Kyōto ( Cyclic cohomology and invariants of multiply connected manifolds ).

In 2001 he received the Ohio State University Distinguished Scholar Award. In 1995 he was a Guggenheim Fellow . From 1999 to 2000 he was a scholar at the Clay Mathematics Institute at Harvard University. He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society .
